Darol Lee Dimmick

Darol Lee Dimmick was born in Denver, Colorado on August 12, 1937 to Carl and Diane Dimmick. He was baptized in December of 1945 as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Brush, Colorado and lived there until he was 12 years old when he moved to Galena Park, TX. He always missed the snow and the mountains and talked often of moving back until the winter months and he decided he liked warm weather better.

He graduated from Galena Park High School in 1955. He met the love of his life Carolynne McCaskill when he was 17 at a youth activity for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He said the first thing he noticed about her was her beautiful red hair and it was then that she became known to everyone as Red. They dated for 5 years and were married August 21, 1959 in Deer Park, TX.

Dad began the first of many jobs selling pots and pans door to door as he also started school at the University of Houston earning a Bachelor's degree in Science and began working as a draftsman for the oil companies. In September of 1961, he began his favorite job of being a father to 2 girls and 3 boys, but he was a father figure to so many more. Dad served in many callings at church and he often spoke fondly of working with the Single Adults and as a temple worker in the Houston Texas Temple and Dallas Texas Temple. But the one he was the proudest of was when he served as a church-service missionary at the Clayton Library for Genealogy. Dad had a love of history and genealogy which he would share with anyone who would listen. Family was important to him as was his faith in Jesus Christ. He loved his children, but it was his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were the apples of his eye.

Dad is survived by his brother and sister-in-law Dewayne and Ina Dimmick of Tennessee, daughter Tammy Fruge of Cypress, TX, John Dimmick of Avon, IN, David and Dawn Dimmick of Mobile, AL, Mike Dimmick of Pasadena, TX, and Ginger and Todd Blevins of Pasadena, TX. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his father Carl Dimmick, mother Julia Diane Thomas, son-in-law David Fruge, and the love of his life, Carolynne Judith Dimmick.

Dad will be missed by many but we find peace and joy in the reunion he had with Red.

Visitation will be held Thursday, September 7, 2023 from 5:00PM to 8:00PM at Grand View Funeral Home, 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, Texas 77505. A Celebration of Darol's life will occur Friday, September 8, 2023 at 9:00 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 4202 Yellowstone Drive, Pasadena, Texas 77504. He will be laid to rest at 11:30 AM at Grand View Memorial Park.
