Charlene Sylvia Hilz Archer, of Pasadena, Texas, passed from this Blessed Life into Eternal Peace on November 23, 2020, shortly after her 85th Birthday. She died at her home with her daughters at her side after bravely living with COPD for more than twenty years.
She was born on September 25, 1935, in Pilot Point, Texas, and was the only child of her loving parents, Charley Joseph Hilz and Ada Burger Hilz. She grew up in Galena Park, Texas, where her parents made a home and owned a business. After graduating early from Galena Park High School at the age of 16, she entered the work force. As a working woman she had a long thirty-five year career in the Human Resources Department at Rohm & Haas in Deer Park, Texas. She retired in 1997.
Charlene fell in love and married Julius Clayton Archer, Jr., in 1955. They were married for forty-eight years and lived a good life together in Pasadena, Texas. They raised three children, Rodger and Regina, twins, and four years later, Julie. Charlene has been a selfless and loving mother and a tremendous source of support to her children and her grand and great grandchildren. All of whom are heart broken thinking of being without her.
Charlene enjoyed life and people with fierce optimism and resiliency, and was extremely competent at everything she did. She was a force to be reckoned with. She lent her talents to the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo as a lifetime member. She enjoyed being an involved member of the Rohm & Haas Retiree Club, the Haas Beens. She loved so many things in life.
As a devout Catholic with deep faith, she was a member and supporter of St. Hyacinth Catholic Church in Deer Park, Texas.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Ada Burger Hilz, her father, C. J. Hilz, her husband, Julius Clayton “James” Archer, Jr., and her son Rodger Archer. Her surviving relatives are her daughter, Regina Archer-Hartig, her son-in-law, Thomas Hartig, and grandson, Keller Hartig. Also surviving her is her daughter, Julie Archer. She is survived by her grandson, Jason Archer, great-grandson, Zane Archer, and great-granddaughter, Jaclyn Archer. There are many other family members as well as friends that are sad to be left without her.
