At a young age, Bobby's family moved to Galena Park, Texas. He graduated from Galena Park High School. At the age of 11, Bobby begin working for his father's business Griffin Refrigeration, where he quickly learned the value of treating the customers right and knew the value of a handshake. At the age of 13, Bobby received his first credit with Western Auto in Galena Park and soon after received his first loan at Galena Park Bank, starting the path of success for years to come. Eventually, Bobby opened Bobby Griffin Service Company at 1610 Clinton Drive, Galena Park. He continued operating his business until retirement. He could fix anything, repairing refrigerators, air conditioning and appliances. He was also a licensed electrician. Bobby designed his own home and built it from the ground up in Rio Villa which survived many hurricanes and storms.
Bobby also enjoyed racing cars. He was known for street racing and often times the Galena Park Police would have him race across the levy so they could see how fast their new patrol cars were. He finally stopped racing cars when his daughter Jeanne was born.
Bobby loved to dance and country music. He taught his daughters how to dance...his way! He was a man of great strength throughout his entire life, physically and mentally even to his last breath.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Donald Jack Griffin and son James Wayne Griffin and grandsons Danny Ray and Brandon Darrell. He will be missed by his children: Cynthia Ann Griffin, Brenda Lee Griffin, Bobby Dean Griffin, Jeanne Griffin Freeman and Kelly Jean Griffin; grandchildren, Michael, Lisa, Christy, Tess, Raylee, Haylee, John Jr., Jeffery, Danielle, Harley, James, Joe, Jesse, James, Misty, Casey and Kimberley; numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren and sister Jaunita Collins.
Bobby will be missed for his sense of humor, integrity, honesty and love for his family and friends.
A visitation for Bobby will be held Friday, July 14, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Grand View Funeral Home. A funeral service will occur Saturday, July 15, 2023, from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM, with committal service to follow at Sterling-White Funeral Home and Cemetery, 11011 Crosby Lynchburg Rd, Highlands, TX 77562.
