Betty was born in Salina, Kansas, July 14,1921. She and her family moved to Houston Heights during her high school years. Betty met the love of her life Melvin Roberts, at her parents’ ice cream shop. They married on July 4, 1940. Several years after WWII they settled in Pasadena, Texas. Betty retired from the Pasadena School District after working in the Payroll Department for many years. After retirement, she enjoyed helping with her two granddaughters whenever she could. Betty also spent her lifetime volunteering at her church. She and Melvin were charter members at Sunset United Methodist Church and dedicated their lives to serving in any capacity that was needed.
Betty is preceded in death by her husband Melvin Roberts; parents Sanders and Grace Cain; her brother Charles Cain; and her son-in-law DeWayne Edgar. She is survived by her two daughters Shirley Edgar; Molly (David) Angie; her two granddaughters Tiffany (Larry) Wallace; Laura (Christopher) Smith; and three great grandchildren Makena Wallace, Charlie Wallace, and Kristopher Smith.
We would like to thank our family and friends for their many visits that helped Mom’s last year to be very special. A special thanks to the caregivers that have become friends and we will be forever grateful for their love. We have been blessed in many ways.
There will be a small graveside service Friday, January, 19, 2024 at 12:00 noon.
