She was born November 20, 1945, in Parkersburg, WV, a daughter of the late Gerald and Sara (Shaffer) Furner.
Dottie retired from Schott’s Scientific Glass, where she was the first woman President of the Union. She enjoyed taking care of her home and her yard, flower gardening, and spending time with her family.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her husband of 61 years, Paul Whited; their children, Paul Whited, II (Becky), Jeff Whited (Molly), Brenda Sturm, and Michelle Yocum (Allen); grandchildren, Allen Dailey, Zachary Whited (Brittany), Dillon Sturm (Cheyenne), Travis Whited, Todd Grimm (Kathie), and Kendra Yocum; great-grandchildren, Liam Dailey, Clayton Whited, Ryland Whited, Paislee Sturm, Kensley Grimm, and Kylie Grimm; and brother, Emmitt Furner.
In addition to her parents, Dottie was preceded in death by her sisters, Nancy, Amanda, Maebell, Ivy, and Peggy.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m., with Chaplain Emmitt Furner officiating. Burial to follow at Sunset Memory Gardens.
