He was born May 14, 1938 in Walton, WV to the late George Mayford and Claudie Moore Phillips. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting, and camping. He loved being outdoors and working with his hands. He made it a daily part of his life to read the bible. His love for the Lord led him to becoming a minister and spreading God’s love where ever he went.
He graduated from Walton High School. He worked at B & O Railroad as a delivery driver and had a career at Kaiser Aluminum as a CTL operator where he retired.
He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Marilyn Phillips; one son, Randy (Bonnie) Phillips of Rockport, WV; two daughters, Sherri (Mike) Benson of Ripley, WV, Sonja (Wm Mark) of Ripley, WV; 16 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; two step daughters, Dawn (Dan) Studer of Zanesville, OH and Angie (Zach) Williams of Mt. Vernon OH; one step granddaughter, Misty (Kenny) Stanford; two step grandsons, Hunter and Carter; two brothers, Sebert (Vida) Phillips of Rockport, WV, Harold (Connie) Phillips of Washington, WV; one sister, Carolyn (Rick) Keller of Washington, WV; daughter in law, Cindy Phillips.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 46 years, Jessie V Phillips; his second wife, Naomi Phillips; one son, Ronnie Phillips; one grandson, Brian Phillips; one granddaughter, Andrea Benson; one sister, Garnett Starcher; one brother, Carless Phillips.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday March 23, 2021 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home with Minister Ron Shamblin officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday March 22, 2021 at the funeral home.
