I'm so very sorry to hear of Jake's passing.  We never met in person, but he kindly, patiently, and expertly guided this incredibly unskilled single Mom on a tight budget through several appliance repairs.  I found out about his passing because another appliance needs fixing, and my initial attempts have failed.  I was so excited to connect with him again, and I'm shocked to hear of his unexpected death.  He lived a short but incredibly meaningful life that helped many people, near and far.  I appreciate him so much, and I send my deepest condolences to his loved ones.  I hope one of his technicians will continue his legacy and keep his blog going in his honor.  He deserves that!  Thank you, Jake!

I'm "Jake's" aunt (we called him Johnny but he adopted Jake which was his beloved granddad's nick name), we had lost touch with him but a cousin was trying to track him down and sadly came across his Facebook page and website and found that he had sadly passed. 
 Now he's with the whole family that had passed before him, his mom, dad and half brother.  He had had some problems in his youth and but we knew he had moved to Arizona somewhere and it is very moving to know how many people he had helped, he was a mechanical wizard and we are not surprised with his expertise that he shared. Jake was awesome. He helped me numerous times, saved me countless dollars and hours of frustration. His answers were straight and to the point. Like the smart neighbor you wish you had to help you out in a pinch. I just learned of his passing today when I once again, sought out his wisdom. RIP Jake. The internet benefitted from your presence. You will be missed!

Mr. Lucier was the best of the best. He was a one of a kind man---sharing his expertise on the forum with skill, compassion, wit and determination. He will be sorely missed and even though I only "met" him online, I feel like I knew him a lifetime.

Rest in peace old friend. For those that you inspired, every appliance we repair is in in your honor.

Sad to hear this. It's the little things that remind me of him and I don't even know him.  He's helped me fix several appliances and save money. I was shocked to have just learned about Jake's passing. As so many others have stated here, Jake was a tremendous help to so many people through his site and I can only imagine that extended to his family and loved ones. As a single mom, I've relied heavily on Jake's website to do home appliance repairs in order to save a little money. Thank you, Jake, wherever you are, for helping me get through some tough times, with a wrench in hand!  My deepest condolences to his family.

So sorry to hear of Jake's passing.  Jake helped me fix many of my appliances through his blog over the years.... probably a dozen times I reached out to the blog on various repairs, and every single time I was able to fix my appliance.  I didn't know him personally, as most on the blog didn't, but he seemed like a kind and patient person, with a vast amount of knowledge about repairing things, and the desire to share his knowledge with others in need.  A true sign of good character!!  Jake, rest in peace...job well done, you will be missed!

I don't know how many people Jake helped that he never got to meet in person.  He was a fountain of information and help to anyone who needed it and my heart goes out to his family.  I know he will be dearly missed.

Condolences to the family of Jake. May he Rest In Peace with God. I didn't know Jake but I was on this blog a few times and with his help and support was able to fix my Samsung refrigerator and a Whirlpool Dryer. Experts like Jake helping DIYers fix their appliances are valuable in saving people money do not get the recognition they deserve.  I would just say that Jake was I believe type of person who enjoyed helping others who needed assistance in fixing home appliances, possibly other products, or just enjoyed helping people in general. I didn't know Jake as I said in the beginning but I know he will be missed both on this Blog and in life. RIP Bro.

I came across the sad news of Jake’s passing today when his site saved my dinner in our new house, I’m still getting used to all of my new appliances and his site is a wealth of helpful information for me. I hope his family can continue his kind work in helping others with his expertise and providing a forum for a great group of folks to chat about taking care of all of the their home appliances. Just happened upon his post that just gave us the solution to our dishwasher problem and discovered his advice is posthumously made. My husband and I send our condolences to Jake's family and our appreciation for his value as a craftsman.

While I never was able to meet Jake in person, his appliance blog saved our family thousands over the years. He was my go to guy when I needed help with a broken appliance.
Rest in peace Jake, I can only imagine now you are troubleshooting appliances in Heaven and the Lord is saying, "ah so I only need a simple part to fix this."

Had no idea how to fix my frig; replace the thermostat. Then i hit on Jake. The poise & care with which he demostrated was unmatchable. Patience, calm, caution & general amiability. Sorry to hear that he passed so young. He was a gentleman. ❤
