Ronald Keith Dixon, 68, of Paris, passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at his home surrounded by family. Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled services for 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 29th at the Paris High School Gymnasium with Bishop Samuel Evans officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 5 – 8 p.m. Ronald, the son of Thomas Patterson and Dolores Dixon, was born Oct. 4, 1954, in Paris. He graduated from Paris High School and began a career at Campbell Soup Company that spanned 40 years before his retirement. It was during these 40 years that he also refereed basketball at the high school and college levels. Following his retirement, he worked eight years at Paris High School. Uncle Nonny, Dick, or just Dixon are only a few of the affectionate names he was given. He enjoyed his family and friends and had a special talent for playing dominoes with his friends on 3rd Street, where he could be found trash talking. He had a love for riding horses, dancing, and enjoying blues music while “feeling pretty,” in his words. He spent 40 years running up and down the basketball court blowing his whistle for countless ballgames, and the highlight of his career as a referee was when he was chosen to referee at the state championship level. He loved the game of basketball and felt honored on game night doing what he loved. He was known by all to be fair and consistent. However, if you got out of line, he always warned with that look, but was never afraid to remove you from the gym. He forever cherished his friendship with his Campbell Soup co-workers, his fellow referees, and co-workers at Paris High School. He was preceded in death by his parents, and three siblings, Portia Dixon, Byron Barr, and Cameo Battle. Survivors include his wife, Monique Mitchell Dixon, whom he married on May 11, 2012, four children, Quaaron Dixon & wife Brandy, Courtney Dixon, Xavier Henderson, and Tamekia Dixon, step-children, Marcus Mitchell and Mikia Mitchell, four grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, siblings, Kevin Dixon & wife Althea, Tyron Dixon & wife Martha, Diana Franklin, Emily Rollerson & husband Robert, Janet Bills & husband Larry, Gary Dixon & wife Janna, Billy Dixon & wife Minnie, Greg Bass & wife Larissa, Cassandra Lane & husband Shawn, Stephanie King & husband Greg, Byron Dixon & wife Shirley, Lisa Barr, Phyllis Barr, Thomas Battle, Rosaline Patterson, A’Lesha Smith, Chris Harmon, Joyce Booker, Marcus Bills, and Robbie Wheeler & husband Harold, two aunts, Shirley Minor and Barbara Looney and an uncle, Gary Vaughn Booker along with numerous nieces & nephews and a plethora of friends.
