Lona Smyers Jones

Lona Florence Smyers Jones, 81, of Antlers, OK, passed away Monday, August 18, 2014, at Choctaw Memorial Hospital in Hugo. Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled graveside services for 9:00 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 21st, at Long Cemetery with Rev. Samuel Evers officiating. A formal visitation will not be scheduled, however, friends and family may sign Mrs. Jones’ guestbook at the funeral home. Mrs. Jones, the daughter of William Earl Smyers and Gussie Beatrice Foster Smyers, was born March 11, 1933, in Lamar County. She attended Powderly Schools. Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Milburn and Williams Smyers. Survivors include a daughter, Teresa Beshirs & husband Billy of Direct, three sons, Billy Earl Avance & wife Leann of Powderly, Jack Avance of Antlers, OK and Mark Avance & wife Joan of Antlers, OK, 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, a brother, Mark Smyers & wife Jean of Bedford, a sister-in-law, Pat Smyers of Powderly along with numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
