John Michael Pendleton passed into eternal life Friday, July 27, 2018. He was born April 13, 1939, in Pensacola, FL to John A. & Nellie Myers Pendleton who preceded him in death along with his brother, Franklin Pendleton.
He is survived by his wife, Marlene Kellogg Pendleton, whom he shared 55 years of love & adventure, living life to the fullest to the very end. He grew up in Pensacola & New Orleans where he attended Jesuit High School. He joined the United States Air Force at 17 and served 12 years of service in Japan, Norway, and Alaska. Upon his honorable discharge, he attended Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington where he received his degree in accounting & went to work for Weyerhaeuser in Tacoma and Longview, WA and Valiant, OK where he was project accountant for the construction of Weyerhaeuser’s third mill.
He then joined his wife, Marlene, in her travel agency, Paris Travel Consultants, where he established the N. E. Texas Flyer, a shuttle service from Paris & Commerce to DFW Airport which he operated in the 80’s.
He had many interests. His love of photography stemmed from his many travels around the world. He loved history, especially military history. He loved reading. The Paris Public Library was his second home. Thanks to all the wonderful people working there.
He was a model railroader. His work can be seen at the Coliseum at the Lamar County Fairgrounds. He loved woodworking and built much of their furniture and countless toys for his grandchildren as they were growing up. He had been a member of the Lion’s Club and the Kiwanis Club and enjoyed community service.
Other than his wife, he is survived by sisters; Janell Clark (George) and Marjorie Card, daughter, Julie Burns (Allen) in Washington State, son, David Pendleton of Paris, daughter, April Williamson of Utah, and son, John J. Pendleton of Dallas, beloved grandchildren; Brian & Chrissy Burns of Washington, Tex Williamson (Lisa) of Utah, Eric Williamson (Haley) of Colorado, Marla Parsons (Cody) of Paris, Richard Pendleton of Paris, Riley Pendleton and Korenn Pendleton of Phoenix, AZ, great grandchildren; Conner Parsons, Haizley, Henry & Presley Williamson, Justice, Jordon and Kyler Williamson, Kaylie Pendleton along with numerous nieces & nephews along with a plethora of friends.
A memorial & celebration of his life will be planned for a later date.
Cremation was under the care & direction of Bright-Holland Funeral Home.
