Jimmy D. Burnett, 74, of Deport, passed away Thursday, February 23, 2023, at his home. Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled services for 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28th at the First Baptist Church in Deport with burial following in Highland Cemetery. Frankie Norwood will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Jimmy, the son of Roy Elton Burnett & Lydia Edna Murrell Burnett, was born Dec. 8, 1948, in Stanton, TX. He attended Paris and Powderly schools. His career at Campbell Soup Company spanned a number of years. Jimmy was a handyman and jack-of-all-trades. He attended First Baptist Church in Deport. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, June Toney, a brother, Tommy Burnett, and a dear friend who thought of him as a grandfather, Elijah Quinn Robinson. Survivors include three brothers, Jerry Burnett of Deport, Bruce Burnett of Deport, and Randall Burnett of Paris, and a sister, Mary Bates & husband Jim of Oklahoma City, OK along with numerous nieces & nephews and a host of friends. Casket bearers will be: Rodney Filkins, Chris Davis, Billy Robinson, Scotty LaRue, Lindell Haley, and James Heath Elrod.
