Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 am, Thursday, August 25, 2016, at Bright-Holland Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jimmye Newman and Bro. Patrick Cannon officiating. Burial will be made in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm, Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Power was born September 30, 1934 in Reno, Texas to Steve Power and Ida McManus Power. After graduation from West Lamar High School, David served his country in the U.S Army. He started his own business, Power Heat and Air, in 1980. Following many successful years in the heating and air conditioning business, he owned and operated P&P Grocery in Hopewell. David was also one of the founding members of the Hopewell Fire Department. He also enjoyed farming and ranching. Preceding David in death were his parents, and his first wife, Martha Sue Power, who passed away in 1988. Survivors include his wife, Frances Jones Power, who he married in 1988; children, David Issac Power & wife Melissa of Sumner, Scott Brown of Paris and Kim Hanley & husband James of Paris; grandchildren, Will Power, Haley Power, Blake Hadley, Kaytlin Hadley, Matt Hanley & wife Allison, Clay Hanley & wife Danielle and Brittny Brown; great-grandchildren, Michael Graham, Cadence Lacy, Gavin Hanley, Brystlee Hadley and Elena Rose; sisters, Barbara Brazeal of Paris and Nora Landers of Paris, along with numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Casket bearers will be Kevin Justice, Britt Carter, Andy Neisler, Timmy Lester, Tommy Adams and Michael Lee. Honorary casket bearers will be James Winters, LaFrey Mitchell, Billy Burnsed, Alan Branch, Ed Pierce, Don Hilliard and Harold Luckett.
