Mary Margaret (Baggett) Sheldon was born January 31, 1935 in Ballinger, TX to Gordon and Eudora Baggett. Margaret was the third of four children. The family lived in west Texas until Margaret was 12 when they moved to Houston. She finished her school years in the Pearland school district and graduated a year early and was Valedictorian in her class in 1952. After graduating, she went to work doing secretarial work. She met Howard one Saturday in February when she was at a bowling alley with friends. Howard was stationed at Ellington AFB in Houston and was out with friends also. After a short courtship, they were married on December 14, 1956. They moved to Lincoln, NE January 5, 1957. Other than living in Michigan for one year, they have resided in Nebraska their entire married life. After residing in Lincoln for about 14 years they moved to York and lived there for 9 years before moving to the Omaha area in 1979. Margaret worked for the Lincoln Church of Christ and the York Church of Christ as the secretary. While in York, Margaret began taking college courses. She was 2 hours short of obtaining her Associates degree when they moved to Omaha. In Omaha, she worked full time for Physician’s Mutual Insurance Co. until her retirement in 1993. That began her time taking care of grandkids part-time. Margaret enjoyed her time with her grandkids. She loved to read, sew, quilt, work in her flower garden and was a good student of the Bible.
