passed away at home on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Celia (Garcia) for 52 years. Bob was born in Catonsville, MD on May 3, 1946 to the late Joseph and Helen (Janosik)O’Brien. Bob grew up in Baltimore and York, PA. He met his beautiful wife in Merida, Mexico where they were married in 1970. He resided in the Ft. Lauderdale, FL area for much of his life where he raised his family. Bob is also survived by his 2 beloved daughters, X-Hail (Mark) Griswold and Winnie O’Brien. He was blessed with 4 grandchildren who he was very proud of: Robby, Patrick, Abby, and John-Paul. In addition, Bob is survived by one sister, Andrea Goicochea and three brothers, Joe, Harry, and Mike and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Pat Garcia. Bob’s extended family and friends all played a special part in his life, especially his dear friends from St. Isidro Church in South Florida as well as his colleagues at IESCO in Miami.
Bob attended Calvert Hall in Baltimore, MD Class of 1962. He received his B.A. from Maryknoll College Seminary in 1968. He then enlisted in the U.S Army and served in Mons, Belgium with NATO Intelligence at SHAPE. After discharge, Bob began a career in insurance sales and then later a successful career in electrical supply sales at Graybar Electric and IESCO where he traveled Central America and the Caribbean Islands as Vice-President of Caribbean Sales.
Bob was dedicated to his family, faith and friends. He enjoyed his frequent visits to his wife’s family in Merida, Mexico. He was known for his sense of humor and his generosity. Bob was a generous supporter of many charities and worthwhile ministries. He was always ready to help someone in need.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 25, 2022, 11:00AM visitation followed by Mass at Noon at St. Norbert Church, 50 Leopard Road, Paoli, PA 19301. Internment to follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, 4022 Concord Road, Aston, PA 19014.
