Lewis "Lew" Stults, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather,veteran, and community stalwart, passed away on October 4, 2024, in Lancaster, California, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's. Born on February 22, 1947, in Portland, Maine, Lew's journey of 77 years was marked by service, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to his beloved

Antelope Valley.

Lew's story began in the coastal charm of Portland, Maine but his roots grew deep in the soils of Lancaster, where he moved with his family in the 1950s. His father's work with NASA was the family's bridge to the valley, and it was here that Lew's

vibrant spirit found its true home. He attended Antelope Valley High School, where he and his friends founded the Cordials Car Club, paving the way for a lifetime of community involvement.

After high school, Lew's path took a turn towards service to his country. He joined the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, serving with distinction as an imagery tech for a photoreconnaissance squadron. It was during his naval service in Maine

that he met the love of his life, Karen. Together, they shared 57 years of marriage, filled with joy, challenges, and unyielding devotion.

Upon returning to Antelope Valley, Lew's voice became a familiar comfort over the airwaves as a DJ for KAVL radio, where he spun oldies that brought memories to life and smiles to faces. His work history was as varied as it was impactful, from

being a respected AV businessman to serving as the District Director for the 25th Congressional District. His leadership shone brightly as he took on roles such as AV College Board Trustee, President of the AV School Board, and President of the AV Board of Trade.

Lew and Karen were blessed with two daughters, Christina and the late Stacy. As a family, they shared the joy of youth sports, with Lew coaching the Piranhas kids' softball team. His five grandchildren and one great-grandchild were a source of

immense pride and happiness.

His ability to connect with people was legendary. Lew's distinctive voice and magnetic personality made him a sought-after Master of Ceremonies for countless events, including those for the local Rotary Chapter. He was a fixture in the community, always ready with a friendly greeting, a funny anecdote, or an optimistic outlook that could brighten even the darkest of days.

Lew's contributions to the valley were manifold. He was a member of the Greater Antelope Valley Chamber of Commerce and never missed an opportunity to advocate for the place and people he held dear. His retirement in 2015 marked the end of a distinguished career in public service, but not the end of his influence or the memories he created.

Lew Stults was a man who lived fully and loved generously. His absence leaves a void in the Antelope Valley and in the hearts of those who knew him. However, the legacy of his laughter, his service, and his unwavering optimism endures.

Preceded in death by his daughter Stacy, Lew is survived by his wife Karen, his daughter Christina, five grandchildren (Samantha, Emily, Benjamin, Chloe and Ethan), and one great-grandchild (Ellie). His life was a testament to the power of

community, the importance of service, and the enduring strength of family.

Lew's story does not end here. It lives on in the lives he touched, the community he helped build, and the laughter he shared. A friend to all and a stranger to none, Lewis "Lew" Stults will be profoundly missed and forever remembered as a

beacon of light in the Antelope Valley.
