Laurence Bowsky, affectionately known as Larry to his friends and family, passed away on September 27, 2023, at the age of 85, in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. He was born on July 18, 1938, in Brooklyn, New York, and was a longtime resident of Long Island before settling in Palm Beach Gardens.
Larry was a devoted husband, married to the other half of his heart, Lynne Bowsky, for an incredible 56 1/2 years. Together, they shared a love that was the envy of all who knew them. Larry was also a loving and amazing father to his three children, Adam (Sharon) Bowsky, Jennifer Bowsky, and the late Jason (Barbara) Bowsky, whose memory he cherished dearly.
Larry was a proud and doting grandfather to Brandon, Alyssa, Maxwell, Amanda, Bradley, Jacob, Leah, and Benji, showering them with affection and wisdom throughout their lives and stories of trips to Planet Zar.
Known for his appreciation of good food, Larry was a loyal customer of Gardens Pizza and Pasta, where he was a familiar face. His passion for food was surpassed only by his love for his family. He would often be found bonding with his children over meals, and Saturday mornings were reserved for special breakfast outings with just the kids at the local diner.
Larry's children were the pride and joy of his life, and he dedicated countless hours to watching their soccer games. His presence in their lives was felt in his nightly ritual of kissing them goodnight. If they were awake, they would playfully scratch and sniff his shirt to discover what he had for dinner, as he always managed to spill something on his shirt during his culinary adventures.
Larry's professional life saw him working in sales, but it was his sense of humor and love for pranks that endeared him to friends and family. However, beyond the laughter, Larry was a generous soul who helped many both financially and emotionally. His willingness to lend a hand and his compassionate nature made him a cherished figure in the lives of those he touched.
In addition to his family and work, Larry had a multitude of interests, including his beloved New York Giants and New York Mets. He was an avid fan of indoor soccer and enjoyed watching tennis on TV, or when his wife played USTA matches. Dogs held a special place in his heart, especially his 13-year love for Shadow. He had a fondness for New England clam chowder, a good New York pizza pie, Bagel Chalet bagels, Chinese food - especially egg rolls -, Italian food - his favorite being veal cutlet parmesan-, lobster, a good square knish from Phil's deli, and probably most of all, his mother's spare ribs.
Larry's passion for sports extended to road trips with his children to soccer games around the east coast of the USA and evenings spent watching Sunday, Monday, and Thursday Night Football.
Larry's obituary stands as a testament to the wonderful life he lived, filled with love & laughter, and a genuine love for those around him. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in eternal peace, forever cherished in our hearts.
