W. Allen Reed

Allen was born in East Peoria, Illinois on August 21, 1937 to Gilbert and Bertha Reed. At seven, his family moved to West Plains, Missouri were he lived until joining the United States Air Force to see the world. Since their marriage, Allen and Saundra have resided in the Melbourne, Palm Bay area since 1960.

Allen worked for Radiation which became Harris Corp. for almost forty years retiring as an Electrical Engineer. Years before leaving Harris, Allen began his own company, Reed and Sons, The Water Faucet, a water conditioning company which gave him the opportunity to serve others.

As one of the founding members of the Tabernacle Church of Melbourne, Allen was an elder where his heart was in serving the needy and greeting everyone at the front door with a smile.

Known for his love of the Lord and family Allen was also known for his overwhelming sense of humor. His lighthearted nature was witnessed by all throughout his last days in the hospital.

Allen is survived by his wife, Saundra and two sons, Bradley Reed and Jeffrey Reed. He was predeceased by his parents, Gilbert and Bertha Reed and three older brothers; Donald, William, and Gary.

Because of current concerns, a celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date when hopefully more will be able to attend. Saundra is considering their next wedding anniversary date, February 14, 2021.
