An 8th generation from Schenectady, NY, she graduated from Cornell University and did advanced graduate work at NYS University College at Geneseo, the University of Rhode Island, and the State University of New York at Albany (NY).
During her career in education, she taught Science in Jamestown, NY and Niskayuna, NY Secondary Schools, and was an Assistant Professor of Education at the State University College at Potsdam (NY).
She worked as a program developer creating programs to teach Multicultural Education using community members and non-traditional settings for the New York State Education Department and then writing Educational Programs and Grants for Nine county area of the Board of Cooperative Educational Services of NY State.
Finally, equal employment legislation allowed her to become one of the first women hired to work in a male prison in Education Program Development for the NYS Correctional Services Department. Her work on developing and implementing a Math, English, and Bi-lingual Spanish remedial program for all inmates under 21-yrs in NYS; received an award for one of the top basic remedial programs in the nation. She then became one of two women placed on the Federal Consultants List for Correctional Education.
After moving to Florida, she worked with Brevard County Department of Water Resources as Technical Liaison on the wastewater and Sewage Treatment programs. She developed and presented reports on the findings of the field staff to technical and homeowner groups, civic leaders, and government groups. She also created water conservation courses for Elementary and Secondary Schools, which she then presented in the schools.
After leaving the county, she worked for Pan Am World Services on writing and editing technical manuals for projects for the Saudi Arabian and Omani governments, and as Technical Editor at the Cape Air Force Station on launch and security documents.
Leaving Pan Am World Services, she became a travel agent aided by her wide knowledge of travel throughout the world. She worked for three area agencies over several years until fully retiring.
She was known in the County as a miniaturist and a avid collector of antiques and collectibles.
