A Loving Tribute to Our Mother
Mary Crauswell Atcher-Whitney
Our Mother's life wasn't about herself; it was about her Christian faith, her family, her friends and in that order. She gave her heart to the Lord at a very young age and served Him faithfully throughout her life. She attended church services and prayed everyday. If there ever was a saint, she was an outstanding example of what a Christian should be. She walked the Christian walk and was an inspiration and encouraged everyone to attend church, read the Bible and pray.
Her family was of upmost importance. She loved us equally, was concerned about us, wanted us all to be together and made sure we were okay. Her pediatrician told her she was lucky she had two children so, everywhere we went, she would tell everyone Don and I were special.
She easily made friends and cherished each and every friendship. She would share and laugh, often make you laugh, and pray for those who needed prayer. she had funny sayings such as "busier than a bumble bee in a haystack," and "hot diggity dog."
Born in Dora, Alabama, the daughter of a coal miner turned Nazerene Church Minister, she attended Trevecca Nazerene College. In her younger years, she worked as a secretary to engineers at Patrick Air Force Base on the Atlas Missile Project. After leaving Patrick Air Force Base, she opened her own secretarial business and worked at home. she was a member of the Eau Gllie Church of the Nazarene, and later became a member of Oceanside Community Church. She was a Greeter and led the Young at Heart Group for the church.
She had many interests sush as the Cape Canaveral Space & Shuttle Missions, the Historical Society, the Stamp Club, and was the Division winner and queen of TOPS (Take of Pounds Sensibly) in 1987. She was the leader of TOPS at various times over the years, became a KOPS (Keep of Pounds Sensibly) and then, Alumni.
She was a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister and Friend. She was kind, generous, upbeat, positive, inspirational, and we will all miss her dearly.

held me close and loved me
