Marilyn Ann (Brown) Darnell died Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at William Childs Hospice House in Palm Bay, FL. She was the loving wife of Michael F. Darnell. Marilyn, her sisters and father all lived life well into their 90s. She was 94 years old.
Mrs. Darnell was born on September 15, 1923 in Columbus, OH, daughter of the late Jemina (Bopp) and John David Brown As a child Marilyn lived with her family on the American frontier as homesteaders in Mohall, North Dakota, and as a business family in Columbus, OH where she married her first husband, Marion Reed in 1945. Family lore has it that sister Ruth was born in a blizzard in North Dakota, and that Native Americans often visited the ND cabin seeking peace and friendship.
Marilyn married Mike Darnell on January 11, 1969. As the wife of a serviceman, she enjoyed living around the US and the world in Japan, Germany, Hawaii, Arizona, Texas, California, and more. She and Mike settled in West Melbourne, FL in 2005.
Marilyn enriched the lives of her family with her knowledge of America's families and history.
In addition to her husband, Mike, Marilyn is survived by nieces, Sydney Shannon, CO, Dennise Martincic, OR and nephews Mike Scruggs, MD, Gary Scruggs, CO, Pat Scruggs, CT and Steve Bell, WA. She was pre-deceased by her sisters Cleo Bell and Ruth Scruggs. She also leaves a sister-in-law and her husband's niece and nephews.
An open mass will be held at a date to be announced.
