Great-grandfather departed this life on July 7, 2021 at 12:25 p.m.
John also known as Ozzie was born in Georgetown, Guyana, South America to the late Muriel
Vaughan Stephens and William Kenneth Vaughan on March 28, 1941 and migrated to to the USA
in the 1980’s. Ozzie was an Insurance salesman by trade for all of his career and retired as an
independent broker in the State of New York.
Ozzie is survived by his wife Lorna Vaughan of 30 years, Ex wife, Barbara White Mother of his
5 children, Nathalie Vaughn of Massachusetts and partner Dion, Linda McPherson of New
York, Kathy Ann Hopkinson of New Jersey and husband Nigel, Osylyn Vaughan and Curtis
Vaughan of Georgia; his 10 grandchildren Leslie Dundas, Jamal Jacobs, Kandyce Hopkinson,
Lashaun McPherson, Denzel Vaughan, Timothy Hopkinson, Anthony Baxter, Dionne Jasmine
Odaine, Andrew Mcpherson and Cory Baxter, his great-grandchildren Aiden & Elle Dundas and
Cameron William Mbua; his sisters Lucille Brank of New York, Rosie Eleanor Carter and Monty
Vaughan of Guyana, Joyce Davies of Australia, his brother Charles Blythe of New York and his
wife Patsy; his 28 nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by mother Muriel Vaughan
Stephens, his father William Kenneth Vaughan, his siblings Vilma Yarrick, Lloyda Richmond
and his dog Butch.
Ozzie attended Campbellsville Government School and later took classes in accounting. He
was also a member of the Lions Club where he learned to build character and passed those
values down to his children. He was a proud man and for his children he emphasized the im
portance of self-value and self-respect, “walk with head held hide like you have something to
be proud of…no slouching”. He will be remembered fondly for this nurturing caring guidance
he provided his family.
The funeral service will be held 4PM Wednesday July 14, 2021 at Fountainhead Funeral Home,
7359 Babcock Street SE, Palm Bay, FL. The viewing and visitation will be held from 3 to 4PM
and service will follow from 4 – 5.
