Azusana Cinco “Suzy” Whitlock was born on December 22,1939 in Leyte, Philippines and passed away in her home in Palm Bay, Florida on April 18, 2024 at the age 84 under hospice care for multiple health issues.
She married a young Air Force gentleman, Melvin “Ted” Whitlock, Jr., and followed him to the United States of America where she eventually became a proud citizen. Suzy and Ted traveled for many years with the military. They were stationed at Patrick Air Force Base in 1980. It was then, they decided to make Palm Bay, Florida their permanent home and raise their two daughters, Lisa and Cynthia (Terry) in Brevard County, FL.
When seen in public, she took much pride in her stylish appearance, dressed-to-impress in her 6 inch heels and matching jewelry. Don’t be fooled by her quiet demeanor and petit 4’ 8” frame, as she was mighty, spicy and fearless with a huge, generous heart.
Suzy was an extremely talented seamstress, hand sewing matching outfits for her girls as they were going up as well as their homecoming, prom, and their wedding dresses. Her hands were always busy. Even when she was resting, she would be crocheting elaborate patterns creating colorful table clothes and doilies. She enjoyed arts and crafts, gardening, and was a superb cook. To this day, people still remember her delicious lumpia (a Filipino egg roll). Her favorite past-time with her husband, Ted, was dancing the jitterbug & cha-cha, playing cards, and going to church up until her health decline. She was a dedicated wife and mother, spending time with her family and supporting them in sports activities and community events throughout her life.
Proceeded in death by her husband Melvin “Ted” Whitlock, Jr., all her siblings in the Philippines and USA, and recently her son-in-law, Gerald Clendaniel. She is survived by her two daughters, Susan (Lisa) Whitlock-Mercado and Cynthia (Terry) Clendaniel along with Lisa’s spouse, Bill Mercado and their daughter Anna May (Brie) Mercado, Cynthia’s daughter Skylar Santamont and her husband Trey Santamont and Cynthia’s son, Cheyne Johnson.
Services will be held at Fountainhead Funeral Home on 7359 Babcock Street, Palm Bay, Florida on Friday, May 3, 2024. Family and friends visitation begins at 9:30am. The Catholic Prayer Service will begin at 10:30am, immediately followed by the placement of her ashes into the niche’ as her final resting place with her husband of 58 years.
