Carol was the mayor of Villa del Mar, and also a friend, and fairy godmother. Her door was almost always open, and everyone was welcome. Salty snacks and black licorice, and Carol's inquiries always on the table. I can still hear her voice and laugh. I will never stop missing her, and never forget the way she took my mother and I under her wing, and brought us into the fold of belonging. It was an era. That warm light of sunset pouring into her apartment.  She made ordinary things a special occasion, and a true special occasion always celebrated. She was sure of things, and if she was sure she loved you, you surely count your lucky stars. RIP dear lady.

Carol was the mayor of Villa Del Mar, and the door to her office was always open. Kind, funny, as generous-spirited as the summer day is long. I will never forget her laugh and the way she included everyone. I must have a heart because it is aching to learn of her passing. She was a fairy godmother to me, and a best friend to my mother, my mother's last BFF on this earth. Love and blessings to Carol's family.
