August 15, 1928 - September 15, 2018
Our beautiful and beloved mother passed away on September 15th, 2018 at ninety years of age. Betty was born in London, England, where she was raised with her also lovely sister, Yvonne. In 1948, she met, fell in love with and married our father, Richard Watts, a "Spitfire" aircraft carpenter in the Royal Air Force during WWII, and, later, a policeman (Bobby) in Bournemouth. In 1958, Betty and family of five emigrated to the U.S. to follow her sister, Yvonne, who had married a U.S. Air Force serviceman a few years prior.
Betty had worked as a beautician in England and in the U.S., became a licensed Cosmetologist. During the 1960’s and 1970's, Betty owned and operated Patricia's Salon of Beauty in Pacific Grove. Betty's father and mother also emigrated from England and owned and operated Forest Art Supply just a few doors away.
Betty was a wonderful artist as was her father, sister and one of her three sons. She painted a great many English cottages and ocean scenes, many of which were created and given as gifts of gratitude to family or friends she loved. Betty was also proficient at upholstery, knitting, sewing and to her family's joyous benefit, unmatched cooking skills.
Betty was the sweetest, kindest and most generous and loving person one might imagine. We, her children, were so blessed to have this angel, Betty, as our mother. Thank you, Father in Heaven, for this wondrous gift. Betty will be greatly missed by all who knew her and although she is gone from this Earth, she will be forever in our hearts, our minds and our prayers.
Betty was predeceased by her husband, Richard Watts, and her daughter, Angela Balesteri. She is survived by her sons, Alan, Stephen and Richard. Betty has eight grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Private family services will be held.
