Funeral services will be held at 12:00p.m. noon on Wednesday, September 4, 2013, from Ozark Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Steve King officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memory Gardens with military honors and Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 11:00am until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions may be made to Ozark Baptist Church Family Life Center, 2825 S. Union Ave., Ozark, AL. 36360.
Mr. Templeton, a native of Dadeville, AL, was born September 8, 1935 in Sylacauga, AL to Bruce Harvey and Earlene Thomas Templeton. He served 22 years in the U.S. Navy, was a veteran in the Vietnam War and retired as a CPO. Mr. Templeton received a Bachelor’s Degree from Troy University and was an Avionics Instructor at the Alabama Aviation Technical College where he retired in 1993. He was a member of Ozark Baptist Church and served as a Deacon for many years. Mr. Templeton was just recently awarded Deacon Emeritus.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 55 years, Dorothy “Dot” Fincher Templeton; his younger brother, Larry Templeton and his younger sister, Sonja Davis.
The family expresses a special thanks to Lisa Stokes, Joey Beverette and Donna Kay Reeners for their love and dedication in caring for Mr. Templeton. The family also appreciates everyone at Gentiva Hospice.
Mr. Templeton is survived by his daughter, Donna Templeton Skeen and her husband Jerry “Jay” of Dothan; his sons, Hiram Templeton and his wife Patricia of Bay Minette and Michael Templeton and his wife Rhonda of Mobile; his sisters, Joyce Thurman of Lake Martin and Peggy Spooner of Warner Robbins, Ga; also surviving are his five grand-daughters, Katie McKinney (Rev. Joe McKinney) of Butler, AL, Kellie Templeton Williford (Daniel) of Spanish Fort, AL, Kayla Templeton Wegrzyn (William) of Anniston, AL, Kristie Templeton Patton (Patrick) of Edwardsville, IL, Anne-Marie Coaker Wilson (Ryan) of Ozark; four great-grandchildren. He was also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
