Mrs. Weldon was born April 25, 1930 in Covington, Virginia. She was married to Roland L. Weldon, Sr. She was an Air Force wife, traveled the world following duty stations and raised her family of four sons and one daughter. Her life was one of service to family and friends. She was known to many as Nanny Weldon and she had a great passion teaching individuals who were afraid of the water to learn to swim. She loved canning, cooking and baking and was happiest when others enjoyed what she made.
She also loved helping where she was needed. She enjoyed volunteering and working at Vivian B. Adams School, a place that always had a piece of her heart. She was a band parent for 15 years, (11 years without a child in the band) and worked every home game football game where she always brought homemade chili. She volunteered at Goodwill and thoroughly enjoyed seeing and helping others. She and her best friend, Grace Crittenden, always had time to help those in town that weren't feeling very well or just needed a short visit or a bowl of soup.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roland L. Weldon, her brother Douglas Cale, her sister Billy Jean and her parents.
Survivors include a daughter, Cindy Smith (Mike) of Ozark; sons, William “Bill” Weldon (Sue) of Pinckard, Lenny Weldon (Margie) of Ozark, David Weldon (Carolyn) of Dothan, and Dr. Roland “Buddy” Weldon, Jr. (Kerrie) of Ozark; grandchildren, Mike, Joby, T.J., Chris, Dacia, Johnathon, Joel, Megan, Dalton, Alexis, Allen, Andrew and Austin; 11 great-grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild; and many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
