February 15, 1933 – March 24, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Pauline "Polly" Outzen, who passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 24, 2025, at the age of 92.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, to Frida Larsen and Nicholas Sylvester, Polly spent much of her life on Staten Island, NY, where she and her husband, George Outzen, built a home filled with love, laughter, and a strong sense of family. In retirement, she and George relocated to Lehigh Acres, FL, where they continued to cherish their time together, surrounded by family and friends.
She is survived by her loving husband, George, their children—Randi Wright, Karen Olsen, and Christian Outzen—their grandchildren—Kirsten, Andrea, Ryan, Rory, and Kaia—and their great-grandchildren, Lincoln and Lucas.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Polly's greatest joy in life was being surrounded by family. Whether it was a holiday gathering or just an ordinary afternoon, she was happiest when her loved ones were in the same room, sharing laughter, stories, and love.
Polly worked as a medical secretary, but her true calling was nurturing the family bonds that have spanned generations. She and George also cultivated deep friendships that became chosen family—connections that stretched across time, distance, and even the ocean to her relatives in Denmark.
She had a gift for bringing people together, for honoring traditions, and for making everyone feel at home. She was a lifelong member of the Nansen Lodge and always made sure that family and friends alike felt loved and cherished.
Polly had a special place in her heart for animals, especially her beloved corgis, who were part of her extended family throughout the years.
Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for family and friends will never be forgotten. Her memory will live on in the traditions she passed down, the love she shared, and the unbreakable family bonds she built.
A celebration of Polly’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor her memory by spending time with those you love, keeping in touch with family and friends, and celebrating the connections that make life meaningful.
