Patricia Eileen Violett, born February 10, 1940 in Washington, DC, passed away peacefully in her home in Winter Springs, FL on January 17, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. Patricia grew up in Cheverly, Maryland and graduated from Regina High School. She then attended the University of Maryland. As a young woman, Patricia enjoyed church activities and Boxer pedigree dog showing. She was Queen of the Town of the Cheverly, Maryland 25th Anniversary celebration. Over the years, Patricia developed her love of gardening flowers and belly dancing. Patricia enjoyed cooking with her grandmother. This passion of cooking grew into a lifetime of culinary expertise. But most of all, she enjoyed taking care of other people.
Patricia married her grade school sweetheart, Robert S. Violett, and made a wonderful life as a Navy military wife. In 1982, Patricia went on to be cofounder, with her husband, of a world-renowned radio controlled jet model airplane company. She ran the company for 35 years and together with her husband provided countless long-term careers to many employees. Her employees grew to be part of Patricia’s extended family. She was always there to listen, give advice, and help when someone was in need. Over the years Bob and Pat would open their home to numerous customers, interns, employees, and friends, often for months at a time. Patricia was always gracious and welcomed everyone with open arms; the door was always open and she made sure there was always enough to feed the many who walked through. It was important to Patricia to know people on a personal level.
Patricia was the epitome of a matriarch who was always there for her children and grandchildren, offering support and love; always present at school functions, extra-curricular activities, and special ceremonies. She was also there for the everyday needs, providing comfort and a hug when it was needed; expressing her pride and encouragement as well as her belief in all that her family was meant to accomplish in life.
Patricia created a home, a safe haven, that projected her warmth where she created beautiful memories that will be cherished by all who entered over the years. This unwavering ability to keep perspective of what is important in life was a true gift. Patricia was a genuine, wonderful, strong woman with a heart of gold.
