Sharron Kaye Casidy, 83, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2024, in Olathe, Kansas. Sharron was born and raised in Wichita, Kansas, later moving to Fresno, California and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma before settling in Overland Park, Kansas, where she lived for last 46 years. She is a graduate of Wichita East High School and attended Emporia College in Emporia, Kansas. Sharron was born in Holdrege, Nebraska into the Tweety family, whom she graciously met later in life. She was immediately adopted by Viola and Otto Groeneveld. Sharron had two sisters, Karen and ViAnn. Sharron attended Hamilton Junior High School, where she met her future husband, Richard Casidy. Both Sharron and Richard attended Wichita East High School where she developed her skills in biologic sciences and her talent in piano.
Sharron was a talented musician and loved the arts. Richard excelled in sports and she was his biggest supporter, attending his baseball and basketball games and following him around the country. Richard had her shoot a basketball once, a shot which she made. She immediately “retired”, proudly remaining a perfect 100% lifetime shooter.
Sharron was an amazingly elegant, gracious and caring lady. She worked as a dental assistant before serving as an Executive Assistant at Valley View Bank (Security Bank) in Overland Park, Kansas for over 30 years. She was very active in the Presbyterian church and cared for the elderly at the bank by assisting in wellness visits. She was active in a financial group and various clubs throughout her life. She had a hidden talent in art, utilizing it to create various pieces of ceramics, pen and ink on glass, as well as other art mediums.
Sharron was a meticulous housekeeper. The family joke was that she was so meticulous about cleaning that when Richard would get up in the middle of the night, he would return to find his side of the bed made, and Sharron already back to sleep.
Sharron and Richard had four children, Jerry, William, Michael, and Stacy. They had six grandchildren: (Jerry) Carter, Cooper, Cameryn and Madeline; (Stacy) Jennifer and Lauren. They have four great-grandchildren: Walter Roy and Murphy Kaye Casidy, children of Carter and Taylor Casidy, and Colt and Caroline Russell, children of Lauren and Mitch Russell.
Burial Service will occur on Monday, October 24th at 12:00 pm at the White Chapel Cemetery, 1806 N. Oliver Ave., Wichita, Kansas 67208. Sharron’s Life Celebration will be on Friday, November 15th from 6-8 pm, at McGilley & Hoge Johnson County Memorial Chapel, 8024 Santa Fe Dr, Overland Park, Kansas 66204.
