Richard Arden “Rick” Majors passed away August 16, 2017. He was born April 3, 1940 in Kansas City, MO. Rick was the oldest of three children. He graduated from Southeast High School and went to Finley School of Engineering.
Rick met the love of his life, Sharron Hansard, and they were married on May 27, 1961. They resided in Overland Park, where they raised two children, Michelle and Rich. They were married for 55 years before he was preceded in death last year by Sharron.
He began working at Allis Chalmers, then Bendix before a 24 year career in Facilities Engineering for the HD Lee Company. After leaving the Lee Co., he transitioned to Grinsted/Danisco where he used his compassion and people skills to help others while in his position in Human Resources.
He had a great sense of humor, and loved a good joke. Rick was an avid Nascar fan, and loved rooting for Junior. He loved fishing, and had many memorable trips with friends. He was a big fan of K-State sports. His favorite place was Las Vegas and he never missed an opportunity to go to ‘the boats’.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, Arden and Edith Majors; his father and mother-in-law, Kenley and Esther Hansard; infant daughter, Kimberly Ann; brothers-in-law, Tommy Jones and Louis Wilckens and sister-in-law, Gail Majors.
Rick leaves behind his children, Michelle Morgan and her husband, Sam; Rich Majors and his wife, Christine; 5 grandchildren, Sam Morgan and wife, Reena, Jessica Pewitt and husband, Kevin, Zach Morgan, Joe Morgan and Griffin Majors; 3 great granddaughters, Sareen, Siona and Samaya; his sister, Linda Wilckens; his brother, Dave Majors and wife, Cindy; his sisters-in-law, Phyllis Jones and Betty Davison and her husband, Stan, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. Rick will be greatly missed.
