Kathryn Ann Byrne, Phd, age 68, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away on Monday, November 11, 2024. A Reception and Celebration of Life will be held from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm on Monday, November 25th at the McGilley & Hoge Johnson County Memorial Chapel, 8024 Santa Fe Drive, Overland Park, KS. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the ASPCA.
Kathryn was born in Alameda, CA on August 20, 1956. She graduated from Diablo Valley College with an AA in English 1992-1995, Mills College with a BA in English 1995-1998, Kent State University with a Masters Degree in composition and rhetoric 2002-2007, and Kent State University with a Doctor of Philosophy (Phd) literacy rhetoric, and social practice 2005-2015. JCCC - Assistant Writing Center Director 2007-2015 and JCCC - Writing Center, Director 2015-2021.
Kathryn had a beautiful mind that seemed to radiate love. She made a positive impression on everyone she met, was loved by so many and will be greatly missed.
Kathryn is survived by her life partner, Steve McKelvey; numerous friends and work associates.
