George was born on November 19th, 1931 to Georgia Feree Hodges and Asher Clinton Langworthy. He passed away in his home on April 14th, 2024 due to natural causes. He was 92.
George grew up in Shawnee Mission Kansas attending Prairie Elementary School and then Shawnee Mission High School. He received a bachelor’s degree from Yale University then obtained a masters degree from New York University in retail management.
George founded several companies in emerging and high technology fields. Later in life, he became an author with articles published in numerous computer science periodicals. His passion for education proved to be of great benefit to Kansas City as he was a major contributor to the founding of Johnson County Community College. After the college became operational, he spent many years as a board member and served one term as chairman.
George was known for his unique sense of humor and love of Swiss chocolates. He traveled extensively with frequent visits to Northern Europe and Australia. George was an avid pilot and flew the Beechcraft Debonair and Cessna 210T. He was a devoted patron of the Kansas City Ballet.
George is survived by his brother, two sons and 4 grandchildren. There will be a memorial service held on July 6th.
