Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Daughter, Sister & Friend. Dianne G Patterson Burns of Olathe, Kansas, died peacefully on September 17th, 2022 at the age of 64 years at Olathe Medical Center, surrounded by her family and friends. Dianne was born in Independence, Kansas on December 28th, 1957 to Louis and Joan Patterson.
Fondly remembered for her love of everything purple, pride in her beautiful flower garden and spending time “playing in the dirt,” quilting, and let’s not forget the Dr. Pepper. She enjoyed being outside and especially loved and enjoyed all of her grandchildren and dogs. Diane loved Jesus, teaching her grandchildren how to sew or cheering them on at their next sporting event, and collecting Boyd’s Bears.
One of her favorite pastimes was traveling to Creighton, Nebraska with her husband and spending time swinging on the front porch with Grandma Burns. She always looked forward to Mother’s Day so she could take her mom flower and plant shopping. You could hear Dianne and her husband heckling each other or singing the John Mellencamp lyrics, “A little ditty about Pest and Dianne….”.
Dianne attended Emporia State University, where she was a member of the Sigma, Sigma, Sigma Sorority. She was a lifelong Hornet and Kansas Jayhawk fan. Being personally affected by lupus, Dianne was an advocate for the Lupus Research Alliance and passionate about supporting the Alzheimer’s Association.
