Betty Jean Abbott, age 73, of Overland Park, Kansas passed away Thursday, July 27, 2017. Visitation will be from 9:00 am-10:45 am, Saturday, August 5th at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 7100 Hadley St., Overland Park, Kansas 66204, with the funeral service following at 11:00 am. Burial will be at a later date in the Greenwood Cemetery, Amherst, Wisconsin.
Betty was preceded in death by her father, Loren Abbott and her mother, A. Ethel (Hathaway) Abbott. She is survived by her son, Brian Haskell (Dawn); her grandchildren, Renee Haskell, Leah Haskell, Tayla Haskell, and Chloe Haskell; her brother, William Abbott; her nieces, Dawn Murray and Nichole Kelley; her nephew, Derek Abbott; and several cousins.
Betty grew up in Washington, IL and lived in many different places including, Salt Lake City, UT, Denver, CO and Fort Collins, CO, as well as the Philippines. She was a retired computer programmer for the Federal Government. Betty loved spending time with her grandchildren, as well as doing special things for them and with them. She always put her grandchildren first. She had a special place in her heart for cats and referred to her three cats as her babies. Betty loved the color red. She was very active in her church (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints) and was always willing to serve in any way she could. Betty was loved dearly and she will be missed by all those whose lives she touched.
