Shirley was a remarkable woman who loved and was loved by many. Her family was everything to her. She loved her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren all so very dearly. She loved and enjoyed spending time with her siblings. Her sisters and sisters-in-laws were her best friends. She had a deep love and respect for her parents and missed them always. These special bonds with her family are what fulfilled her life and gave her the greatest joy.
Shirley also had an unwavering faith. This faith guided her relationships with family, friends, and all who crossed her path. She was a fair, kind, and generous person, particularly in sharing her extraordinary talents for cooking and baking with love and care. Beyond cooking, Shirley had a passion for flowers and could happily spend hours working in her garden.
She had an extraordinary memory and was a wonderful storyteller. Through her stories we got to see our aunts and uncles as mischievous children and rapscallion teenagers. We came to know our grandparents as much younger people. Most importantly, we got to see her as more than just momma. Once, she was once a little girl, and then a young woman with hopes and dreams. She had hardships but persevered, and with her husband by her side, built a good life.
She was a bright light to us all and her passing leaves a giant hole in all our hearts.
