est décédé le 7 décembre 2011, à l’âge de 88 ans, entouré de sa famille. Il laisse dans le deuil son épouse bien-aimée Gisèle (Malouin) qui lui était inséparable depuis 64 ans, ses chers enfants et leurs conjoints Pierre
(Suzanne Clément), Pauline (Raymond Méranger) et Robert (Rachel Lacroix); ses petits-fils choyés Christian Méranger, Jean-Robert (Josée), Philippe (Laéna), Simon et ses arrière-petites-filles jumelles adorées Geneviève et Gabrielle et un tout nouveau arrière-petit-fils, Raphaël. Il laisse également dans le deuil sa tendre soeur Gilberte Gorley. Natif de Vanier (Eastview) et maire de Vanier (1969-1972), conseiller municipal (1965-1969), Monsieur Crête était fondateur et président de Roger Crête Ltée, une entreprise de nettoyage à sec située à la Plaza McArthur à Vanier. Après une courte retraite, il se joint à Pigeon-Roy comme agent immobilier. Monsieur Crête oeuvrait dans plusieurs organisations communautaires et fut président du Eastview-Russell
Kiwanis Club et récipiendaire du prix Mel Osborne Fellowship. Il faisait également partie du Club Richelieu où il était membre honorifique du Cercle Horace-Viau. Il fut également président de la campagne de financement du Centre Pauline Charron (1996),de la Fondation Bruyère et de la Société John Howard d’Ottawa-Carleton. Il fut aussi fondateur et président du Centre de police communautaire de Vanier, membre à vie distingué de l’Institut canadien-français, Chevalier de Colomb du 4e degré et membre de la pastorale Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes. La famille tient à remercier très sincèrement le Dr André Gauthier et son épouse Lorraine, qui ont veillé à sa santé pendant de nombreuses années, le Centre d’accueil Champlain, le Dr Luc Duchesne, les infirmières Johanne Veilleux, Marie Lourdes Nicolas et Carmen Paris et le personnel du 5e étage pour les bons soins prodigués avec compassion et tendresse. La famille recevra parents et amis à la MAISON FUNÉRAIRE RACINE, ROBERT ET GAUTHIER, 180 ch. Montréal, Ottawa 613-241-3680, le 11 décembre 2011 de 14h00 à 16h00 et de 19h00 et 21h00. Peacefully on December 7, 2011, at the age 88, surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted and inseparable husband of Gisèle (Malouin) for 64 years, precious father of his children Pierre (Suzanne Clément), Pauline (Raymond Méranger) and Robert (Rachel Lacroix), cherished grandfather of Christian Méranger, Jean-Robert (Josée), Philippe (Laéna) and Simon, great-grandfather to his beautiful twins girls Geneviève and Gabrielle and newest great grandson Raphaël. He also leaves behind his loving sister Gilberte Gorley.
Born in Vanier (Eastview) and Mayor of Vanier from 1969 to 1972, Alderman from 1965 to 1969, Roger was president of Roger Crête Ltd, a dry cleaning business he founded in 1958 and located at the McArthur Plaza in Vanier. After a short retirement, he became a real estate agent with Pigeon-Roy. A man with a strong sense of community he volunteered his time to many organizations. He was president of the Eastview-Russell Kiwanis Club and awarded the Mel Osborne Fellowship, the Club Richelieu and honorary member Cercle Horace-Viau, the Elisabeth Bruyère Health Centre Foundation, the John Howard Society of Ottawa-Carleton, and the fund raising campaign 1996, Centre Pauline Charron. He was also founding president of the Vanier Police Community Centre, distinguished life member of the Institut Canadien-Français, 4th degree Knights of Columbus and member of the Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes pastoral.
The family would like to express their deep appreciation to Dr. André Gauthier and his wife Lorraine for providing him the best of health care for many years and a sincere thank you to Dr. Luc Duchesne, nurses Johanne Veilleux, Marie-Lourdes Nicolas, Carmen Paris, and the 5th floor staff of the Centre d’accueil Champlain, for their kindness, compassion and support.
Family and friends may pay respects at Racine, Robert, & Gauthier Funeral Home, 180 Montreal Road, on December 11, 2011, from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral service will be held on December 12 at 10:30 am at Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes church, 435 Montreal Road, Ottawa.
In his memory, donations to the Alzheimer Society or to the Centre d’accueil Champlain auxiliaries would be appreciated.
He lived a full life and enriched the lives of many. We will miss him dearly.
