Joanne Wing

Passed away Thursday, Aug 2, 2012 at home with family by her side in her 80th year. Beloved daughter of the late Bernard McManus and Grace O’Donnell. Cherished wife of the late Archie Chester Wing. Dear sister to Bernard McManus. Much loved mother to Michael (Patricia), Brian (Sharon) and Paul. Nanny to Amy, Andra, Celine, Meagan, Alyson, Ashley and Samantha. She will be missed by the many friends that she made along her journey, from her days as a schoolgirl in Niagara Falls, the neighbours she opened her heart to everywhere she settled, the charities she worked so hard for and finally the many new friends she made at the Ottawa Hospital Cancer Centre and among the Bayshore Home Health nursing staff, as she bravely battled cancer. Friends may pay their respects at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home, 1411 Hunt Club Rd. at Albion Rd., on Tuesday, August 7th from 2 pm to 4 pm and from 7 pm to 9 pm. Funeral will be held on Wednesday, August 8th at 11am at St. Augustine’s Parish, 1060 Baseline Rd., Ottawa. Burial will follow at Capital Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Action Life Ottawa or the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation, in Joanne’s memory.
