It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother Elizabeth Ardley Edgar (nee Carman) in Ottawa on August 14, 2024, at the age of 96. She was the daughter of Raymond Carman and Elizabeth Thompson of Montreal and North Hatley, Quebec.
She is survived by her three daughters Allison Edgar, Jane Edgar and Carol Scrimgeour (Steve), her grandchildren Christopher Ninclaus (Danielle), Alexandra Ninclaus (Troy), Todd Scrimgeour (Yusi), Peter Scrimgeour, and her great-granddaughter Claire Berthiaume.
She had a long career in the real estate and mortgage appraisal industry in Montreal and Quebec City. She lived the good life in Morin Heights for many years after retirement, active in her community with golf, bridge and Trinity Anglican Church. She enjoyed her later years at Manoir Westmount in Montreal, and spent her last year in Ottawa at Governor’s Walk Retirement Residence. She loved spending time with friends and family, singing in the choir, her garden, the arts, travel, reading, and her nightly glass of wine.
Mum fought a hard fight with dementia during the last 2 years of her life. Her strength and determination were a force to be reckoned with. She will be dearly missed by her family.
She was predeceased by George Comrie Edgar, her husband of 68 years, and her siblings Raymond, Christopher and Anne.
We would like to thank the staff at Governor’s Walk for their kindness and caring. Also, many thanks to the Hospice staff of Saint-Vincent Hospital for their compassion for our mother in her final days.
Mum will join her parents and siblings in the North Hatley Reedsville Cemetery in a private ceremony at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the charity of your choice would be welcomed.
