To Heather and family,
Dan was our investment advisor along with Dennis for many years. Dan and I spoke by telephone frequently, sometimes several times per week.  I would never call Dan without being as prepared as I could get - Dan was a no-nonsense guy who liked brevity and getting 'the thing' done.  Yet he always had time for us.  Chit-chat  however was for after hours.  With time we grew to trust Dan and appreciate his many, many  qualities as a trusted advisor and exceptional and generous person.   Working with Dan and getting to know him was truly a privilege.  I will miss him.

To Dan's family and friends, 

We were clients of Dan's at Wood Gundy and would like to extend our deepest condolences for your loss. Dan was a truly wonderful person, not only because of the incredible advice, care and wisdom he shared with his clients but because he always went above and beyond. I knew from a young age that I could always trust his financial guidance and was later pleased to know that my parent's retirement and security was in his hands. Dan would come to their apartment on a regular basis to have them sign documents and explain financial decisions. And Dan would always answer my many, often insane and uneducated, questions with a willingness to teach and a true honesty.  

I only knew Dan on a professional level but when someone is this dedicated to the personal level of a professional relationship, I can only imagine how incredible a person he would have been in his own personal life. He will leave a huge void in your lives and having very recently lost my own dad I cannot tell you that it is something that ever seems to fade or get easier. I can however honestly tell you that you feel an angel on your shoulder, a voice in your heart and a spring in your step that was not there before... Dan, as your husband, your father, your sibling and your friend will be those things to you now. 

So, although I cannot promise it gets easier, I can say you are not doing it alone, he is there with you every step of the way. My dad had great admiration for Dan, and beside many others, I know he was there to greet Dan in the afterlife.

Dan became a financial advisor to myself and my husband more than 10 years ago.  Throughout the years, we enjoyed his pleasant demeanor and readiness to help.

I remember meeting you and Dan many years ago.  I had asked for assistance with a business situation.  You both welcomed me into your home.. and naturally Dan made everything right for me.
 My husband & I were Shocked to hear of his recent passing.  Dan was a kind helpful person who gave of himself personally and to many in his field.   Wishing you and your sons our condolences and comfort at this most difficult time.

Dear Heather, Jordan and Evan,
I was so shocked and deeply saddened to hear of Dan’s passing.  I worked with Dan and Heather at KPMG, and then Dan became my financial advisor as soon as he started with CIBC 25  years ago. I always felt blessed to have such a knowledgeable, patient and supportive advisor, but more importantly to know such a kind, positive, caring, down to earth and sweet person and friend.  He always shared stories and spoke with so much  love and  pride about his dear Heather and his boys, whom he loved so much. I and so many will truly miss him! I extend my most sincere condolences and keep you and your families in my prayers during such a difficult time. Scouter Dan’s personal dedication to the youth of our community, through 104th Ottawa Scouts and many other groups, has shaped the lives of many youth.  Thank you Dan, and to Heather and family for gifting us with his time, and your certain welcome.  Our love to you all.  We stand beside you in this time of sadness and loss.

My deepest condolences. I was very saddened to hear about the passing of Dan.  I have so many fond memories of being a scout leader with Dan, and all of our 104th adventures. Thanks for all of the advice you gave me, Dan.

We were saddened to hear of Dan's passing. He was a great scouter, a great group commissioner and has left his mark on the 104th Ottawa Scout group. Cheerful, kind, considerate, generous patient, an excellent mentor to youth and adults. His legacy stands in the youth of our community. Missed forever. 


Heather, Jordan, Evan and family. Very sorry for the loss of your beloved husband and father. He was definitely one of the good guys. Always so caring and always the gentleman. I had the great honor of spending many lunches together with Dan in his early years at KPMG.  I guess heaven must have needed more angels but took you too soon. Many will miss you.  Rest in peace my old friend 

He broke everyone's heart but leaves us privileged to have known him. May he rest in peace. 🙏
