Barbara Dorothy Cowan, best friend and loving wife of Keith. Truly dearest sister of Yvonne. Born, June 20, 1935 and raised in Wollongong Australia, where family life became an early and strong foundation, she would cherish throughout. First came to Canada in 1956 as an exchange teacher. Returning to Australia in 1966. Finally, settling in Ottawa in 1970 to raise her own family Jennifer, Christopher (Angela) and Deborah (Chris). Barbara nurtured them into the fine adults they became. Caring grandmother to Tristan, Ainsley, Laurel, Cameron and Ethan. All of whom she brightened the lives of until the end.
A welcoming home was paramount, friends embraced with the opening of a door. The years rolled by and the caring increased. Brightening everyone’s day with her captivating smile. Always thinking of others before herself and never one to shy away from helping out when asked. Someone to share a smile, laugh with, a walk, a story, or “to just be with” as her husband remembers.
"The touch of a gentle warm guiding hand can lead you to paths of good fortune. As you turn to walk away, remember the hand that first led the way."
