Above all else, John was a remarkable father. His greatest source of happiness and pride was raising his 3 sons, Christopher, Nicolas, and Alexander. His role in their lives evolved over the years, first as their parent, later as a best friend and confidante to each of them. More than anything, John was a tremendous dad, characterized by a lifetime of loving sacrifice he made for his boys.
John left a mark on the lives of many, and was known as a man of numerous qualities, but none more than his fun-loving nature. He shared countless joyful moments with his family and lifelong friends and adored entertaining and being entertained. He was the life of a party and king of the dance floor, dressed in fashionable clothing while singing and boogeying to his favourite funk, soul and R&B tunes. John’s favourite pastime was travelling with loved ones to sunny destinations like Mexico, Cuba, and the Dominican Republic. His go-to holiday spot was Indian Rocks Beach, Florida, where he spent 20+ Christmases with his sons.
John was pre-deceased by his father George Parker, his mother Marion Parker (née Ross), his sister Barbara (Bob) Fenner (née Parker) and his eldest son and soulmate Christopher Parker (Danielle). He leaves behind his beloved sons Nicolas Parker and Alexander Parker (Georgina), and his two dear grandsons Lennox Parker (Christopher) and Kai Parker (Nicolas). John was survived by the mother of his children, Elke Pfister, by his brother Paul (Anna) Parker, his sister Marilee Rose (née Parker), and his brother Stephen (Patti) Parker.
Since his son Christopher’s passing in 2021, John often longed for the day they would be re-united; “until we meet again!”, he’d exclaim. While we are deeply saddened by John’s passing, we are greatly comforted that John’s wish has come true. We’re sure Christopher is whipping up appetizers while John pours rum and cokes in tall glasses with lots of ice and no lime.
