Louis Peros passed away peacefully with his wife Donika at his side on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at the age of 70. Louis was born in Croatia before immigrating to the United States at a young age. He was immensely proud to be both a Croatian and American citizen. Louis loved traveling to Croatia every year to visit family and friends.
Louis graduated from City College of New York in 1975 with a Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Civil Engineering and performed post-graduate work in advanced Structural Engineering at City College until late 1976 before moving to Florida. He later attended Daytona Beach Community College, University of Central Florida and Stetson University (1980 - 1983) for Extensive Business Administration education and training. Louis further developed his Engineering and Construction skills in Florida in 1977 with ITT Community Development Corporation as a Structural and Civil Engineer and Project Manager. His responsibilities included designing and constructing many industrial, commercial, and multi-family residential structures. Louis was a proven leader with over 40 years’ experience in the Structural Engineering field and started him own engineering firm in 1987. Louis was also a Certified Threshold Inspector, a Special Building Inspector and a Certified General Contractor with over 30 years’ experience on ocean side high-rise structures and buildings. He was highly respected in his field and one of the best engineers in the area changing the industry through innovative designs and approaches.
Louis Peros was a Strong, Loving, Caring and Hard-Working Christian Man. He was always willing to lend a hand and help anyone that needed help. His Hobbies included Weightlifting, Bodybuilding, Bicycling, Kayaking, RVing, Camping and he had a passion for cars, trucks, flying and animals. His quest for knowledge and an adventure led him to attain a pilot’s license and he enjoyed flying family and friends in the Cessna airplane he owned. He won the over 35 lightweight championships in Central Florida in weightlifting. He was a Husband, Stepfather, Best Friend and a True Gentleman. Louis is survived by his Wife Donika Berisha, Stepson Anthony, George, Mark, and a Kristina, a Daughter-in-law Kelly, 2 Grand Children Kol and Kira, his Mother Marija Peros, Brother Dino Peros, Brother Allen Peros and Sister-in Law Beth Hollar.
Louis funeral mass will be held on December 29, 2022, at Basilica of St. Paul at 11:00 a.m. Louis loved his blessed church, Basilica of Saint Paul in Daytona Beach which he routinely attended.
