Alvin Lawrence Lokitz passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 12, 2024, at the age of 90. He was born in New York City on December 14, 1933, to Sam and Leah (Rock) Lokitz. He graduated from George Washington Technical School in 1950 and enlisted in the United States Navy. His four years of service ended after his final assignment aboard the USS Intrepid. In 1956, he moved to Ormond Beach, Florida where he lived for over 70 years. In 1962, he married Joan Oakley Owens and became a stepfather to her four sons. A year later, they welcomed their daughter Irene. Sadly in 1995, Joan passed away after 33 years of marriage. In 2001, he married Dorothy Smock. They traveled extensively and were devoted to each other until her death in 2019.
After closing his business, Al’s TV and Repair Shop, he went to work for General Electric and retired from there after more than 30 years. He was a member of the American Legion and the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks.
Of his many hobbies, he enjoyed his weekly cribbage game, bowling, fishing, shrimping, beach parties, visiting casinos and doing jigsaw puzzles. He was known for his kindness and willingness to help anyone he could.
He is survived by his daughter, Irene Muddiman, his grandson Christopher Muddiman (Wendy), his brother Sheldon “Shelly” Lokitz (Nancy), his stepson, John Slusarz (Brian), his dear companion, Judy Kane and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 19, 2024 from 11am-12pm at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home - Ormond Beach, 548 N. Nova Road, Ormond Beach. Funeral Service will begin at 12pm, with interment at Volusia Memorial Park to follow.
