Bob was born on Oct. 12, 1930, in South Weymouth, Mass., to Robert J. and Isabelle H. Cotter. He grew up in Quincy and graduated from Quincy High School before joining the Navy. He served honorably for 9 years assigned to Commander Carrier Division, TWO's staff, operating in the North Atlantic and Mediterranean. He then served at main Navy before joining the Central Intelligence Agency. He served in the Middle East, Europe, East Asia and the Washington, D.C. area. After returning from the CIA, Bob held real estate brokers' licenses in D.C., VA, and MD. He and Sylvia lived on Capitol Hill and renovated properties for their own account. In 1995, Bob retired again. He and Sylvia moved to Cape Cod where he enjoyed fishing and traveling on European river boats, Bob loved his dachshund, Makarios, and his four rescue scotties, and enjoyed breakfast at the Hole-in-One with friends.
