Dr. Kenneth Blair Gordon, admired and respected obstetrician/gynecologist for over four decades, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 due to complications from Alzheimer's disease.
Dr. Gordon was the son of Nathaniel and Ethel Gordon. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen (St. Andre) of Orleans; his five sons, David, Andrew, Paul, Reuven, and Noah; two stepdaughters, Christine and Kimberly St. Andre; and seven grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother Richard Gordon of Scotch Plains, NJ.
Born in Brookline, MA, he graduated from Oliver Ames High School in Easton and received subsequent degrees from Boston College, Northwestern University, and Boston University Medical School. Dr. Gordon established a private medical practice in Framingham, close to Framingham Union Hospital, now MetroWest Medical Center, where he delivered over 7,500 babies to generations of families. He will be remembered as a remarkable physician who was devoted to his patients. Known at the hospital as "Flash Gordon" because of his facility with delivering a baby or handling any medical emergency swiftly and calmly under any circumstance. Dr. Gordon was quoted saying, "Obstetrics is more of an art than a science."
Dr. Gordon truly enjoyed life. He was well-known for his encyclopedic knowledge and his love of literature, crossword puzzles, photography, music, dancing, ham radios, sailing, travel and golf.
A memorial service to celebrate a life well-lived will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2016 from 12:00--4:00pm at LaCantina Restaurant located at 911 Waverly Street in Framingham.
