A new year begins.  We have struggled through a whole year of firsts with as much courage as we could muster.  We have been supported by community, friends, family, Elon Baseball Club members, NRHS students, members of the NBA , Jet Blue and strangers!  Jackson has entrusted us in a future of good deeds and kindnesses and we will do our best.

So many memories. You are so missed Jackson. May you rest in peace.   Love, Nana Welcome

Your family will always have a special place in my heart with the loss.  We all love you.

To the friends and family of Jackson - the Elon community in Massachusetts sends love and support.  As a mother of a sophomore who was also in Myrtle Beach that weekend, my heart breaks for all of you, especially Jackson's immediate family.  If there is ANYTHING that we can do as part of his local Elon family, please let us know.  Jackson will never be forgotten and I am sure his friends will follow his example and try to spread his light.

Dear Scott, Andrea and Lexi,

I didn't know Jackson, but he attended school with my daughter at Elon.  Both my daughter and I are so saddened by his tragic death.  We are thinking about you and sending our condolences.

I had the pleasure of coaching JT for a few years between 2017-19 in our Cape Riptide travel team baseball program.  He and his family made our program better.  JT was a comsummate athlete, a quiet performer, and a tremendous competitor.  Good teams make the playoffs.  Winners win championships and that's the type of ballplayer JT was.  He took the ball in the big game, and the bigger the game the better he was.  He was actually really quiet though.  Over the years, we didn't have long conversations or even talk all that often.  He did his job and I did mine.  Yet, when I doubted myself as all coaches do, I checked in on JT of all people to get a pulse on the team.  Therein lies what made him special-hard to explain why.  It was his way.  God, please take this fine soul to another good place for him to be the wonderful way he is and carry the Yelle family through this.  Amen.

From baby to young man, Jackson was special to the Welcome family. I will miss his "Hi Nana Welcome" when he came into the house. May you rest in peace, Jackson.   Love,  Nana Welcome

As heartbroken as we are about JT's death, we feel so honored to have met such a sweet, kind, funny and positive person in the short time we knew him. And in the quiet, I hear the echo of your absence.  In the stillness, in the silence, My heart aches with emptiness.  Loss is so loud, oh, loss is so loud.  The grandson/Nanny bond is forever

So heartbroken for my dear friend Carol’s loss of her precious grandson. The world is a poorer place without him.  My deepest condolences to all of Jackson’s family, friends and teammates.

Jackson was such a huge addition to Nauset Baseball. He came in a leader and made huge impacts a on the other players for the game, personally and educationally. He will be greatly missed

Jackson will forever be loved. The memories and stories of him will continue to stay close to our hearts. 🤍

Jackson will always be JT to me, the fun loving but talented baseball player who was both a joy to coach and fun to watch as a parent.  No matter the score, being in the dugout was always full of laughter when JT was there.  He’d cheer on his teammates, then crack a joke or do something silly.  When I was done coaching, I would often watch the dugout and see JT still doing his thing.

My heart breaks for Andrea, Scott and especially Lexi.  This is supposed to be a wonderful time, with Lexi going off to Cornell and JT just a year from graduating.  It’s a blessing that JT was such a happy and care free young man, as those memories will last you a lifetime.  Our condolences, love and support to JT, his friends and the Yelle family

Jackson always had a positive impact on those around him, and it’s heartbreaking to see all the lives he touched as we all mourn. 

While I wish I had more time to get to know him, but I’ll remember his story for the rest of my life. This campus will never forget Jackson, and I know his narrative will live on with each of us. Praying for Jackson’s family, his hometown, and anyone impacted by the recent tragedy. He and his teammates always had each other’s backs at Elon, and it’s a solemn time for several communities. Sending all my love. 

My deepest condolences to you all. Scott, although we’ve never met I know your boy Jackson must have been a pillar of love, kindness and strength. I know this by the way you and Andrea helped celebrate and guide Jackson’s young Elon family thru the unchartered waters of the passing a much loved friend, roommate, teammate, classmate or school acquaintance. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, the love, positivity and strength you shared with Jackson’s Elon family is something Jackson obviously shared with them too…that’s great parenting. I so wish things were different but know the values you shared with your boy will carry thru every one of the young adults that were lucky enough to have Jackson Yelle in their life.

Dear Carol Anne,

Although I did not know JT, I can tell from reading about him that he left a wonderful legacy of kindness and joy. My thoughts are with you and your family.

I had the pleasure of knowing Jackson through my little brother, Nate Rowe, whom he called one of his closest friends. Whenever I pulled into my driveway in the summer or during school breaks his iconic signature silver Jeep Wrangler was always parked in my front yard. Jackson was the closest thing I had to a second little brother and could always make me laugh (sometimes his contagious giggle was almost funnier than the actual joke). My favorite memory of Jackson took place on a warm July night last summer where we had a large group of friends hanging out in my backyard and Jackson took it upon himself to entertain the group. “Someone play Rose Tattoo by the Dropkick Murphy’s!” He shouted as he proceeded to get up and perform his funniest most outrageous Irish jig for everyone. I don’t think there was a second that the air wasn’t filled with laughter as everyone started clapping, singing along, and getting up to join him. His energy was so contagious he had a group of about 10 kids in stitches from laughing so hard and got multiple people up on their feet to join him with their best Irish jigs. Jackson brought a light to this world wherever he went with his hilarious jokes, charismatic energy, and big personality. Not a day will go by that I won’t think of him whenever I hear the song “Rose Tattoo”. I consider myself lucky to have known someone as wonderful, funny, and kind-hearted as Jackson Yelle.

At a time like this, words seem so very inadequate -- even if one can find the right words at all. Jackson was a wonderful young man, a treasure to all who knew him. Please know that you have my deepest sympathy. I will keep your family in my prayers.

Jackson’s giggle was and always will be what makes me laugh harder than I’ve ever laughed in my life. Being able to know when he was about to knock on my dorm room door in our freshman year always brought a smile to my face. I couldn’t help but smile, my first thought knowing he was outside my door was, “He’s gonna forget what he came here for and fall asleep.” I’ll never forget the fun we had together. The kindest, most genuine person I’ve ever met. Gentle giant. Love you bro.

I knew Jackson from crew- and later as a friend. He was always so kind and goofy. I loved any chance I got to spend with him, whether at birthday parties, prom, the beach, and grad parties. I was very sorry to hear about his passing. I can't imagine what you're going through as a family now.

I did not know Jackson.  However, as I read through the obituary I was struck by the reminder that so many people go through our lives in one way or another.  When a young person passes it is unbelievable..maybe sometimes it feels unforgiveable....but there is one good thing I see here...Jackson is described as the 'big brother', always there to help, support...in short, a good person.  Having lived long enough to see many young people leave this earth I realized that these people were on this earth for a reason.....he is remembered in such a way that his spirit lives on in everything his family and friends do the rest of their lives.  I'm not able to say that his death was pre-ordained or something...whether or not that is true  the fact remains...he left an incredible guidepost behind...something for all of you to live by, to remember, to be thankful for.   I wish you all blessings of great peace and comfort....and take the time to tell tales of Jackson so you can laugh a bit.   Linda Staiger
