The evening of 7/30 was the last I spent time with Stephen playing super smash brothers, celebrating our friend Jeckal’s early birthday, and celebrating a final mini farewell before my move. I have such fond memories of playing super smash brothers with him and our crew at Fantasmic and at Nenay’s, there was so much laughter and joy each time we all played— something I will always cherish forever.  Stephen was a great friend and was like an older bro to me. He was always there for me at Fantasmic where we worked. Whenever I felt sad, he was one of the only people to notice and ask if I was okay. He always knew how to comfort others including me just by being there. I will miss you dearly Stephen, rest in peace, my friend.

I know that words will never be enough to fill the void that left when you lose a child that you have loved since the day you found out they were going to be born. My heart and prayers goes out to the Wong Family for the loss of there most precious Gem Stephen. My Heart n Condolences goes out to Maddie. He's was loved by everyone on in the entertainment. I met Stephen during his and I first Year of Mardi Gras in 2017. Through multiple audition callbacks and getting cast in different show a genuine friendship develop. Later my go to let's ride and go on adventures. Through gatherings and work events or just having game night he brought his beam of light and smile. I gonna miss you. You became my best friend and Stilt Brother. I'm gonna cherish the great memories and your  encouragement to be a better performer and to be our Authentic selves.  As a Great Stilt Walker we always put our knees through a lot. Now you can go ahead and rest thoes  knees.

After almost a week of trying to find the words to put together how much you’ve meant to me, I realized there’s no short paragraph(s) that could fully convey what I feel but here’s me trying:

When I initially got the news, the only word I could utter out was “what?!”. There are still moments I don’t believe that you’re really gone. After suffering a loss of a childhood friend a month ago, I remember journaling how you can prepare for an elder’s loss mentally cause mortality is a thing but it’s totally different when it’s a person you think you’ll see next week or at work , that’s suddenly just taken too soon. 

Performing at Disney has brought me some of my favorite people. Though some of us are not as close as others, no one deserves to lose a friend this way. 

So Stephen Wong , I really wish we spent more time together. You are always so kind and genuine. You are a part of some of my favorite Disney work memories with everything we did to reopen Fantasmic, my first time supergreeting at fant sets, “marionette-ing” with Geppetto, and so much more! That little girl dressed as Pinocchio, her mom, and I are now friends because of the magical moment you created with all of us.
 
I’m incredibly thankful for every moment we got to partner together. You’re always so patient when doing run throughs. I hope you’re resting well. Just know that even if we aren’t the closest friends, thank you for being a part of this work family. Training was pretty tough with SiFu MiMi and the SiJies; you even grew up training at that temple so you would know more than any of us. Though you were more quiet than some of us, you checked in on a lot of us to make sure we were doing okay. Your sweet and courteous character is always appreciated immensely. 

When we both needed extra practice with our staffs, you never made me feel alone with needing that extra time and support. You and Teresa Liu both stuck with me and though it might not have seemed like a huge deal. It meant something to me.

My family and I offer condolences to you.  We met Stephen at a graduation party in Glen Burnie  MD.  He was such a pleasant person. I remember him happily and joyfully dancing with everyone. If I remember correctly, he even danced with my then six year old daughter.

These were my absolute favorite shifts. I was so blessed to have spent so many holidays with him by my side♥️✨

At the bookstore! I had just got done telling him about how my HHN costume looked like a tornado woman for that year. He came across this book, pulled it out, and said “This is you!”

When we took the time to treat ourselves and catch up! I had a LOT of “tea” I had to spill to him that day 😂🥹

He was always our biggest cheerleader, and would go out of his way for every event to make sure to visit all of his friends in their new roles.

This was from Stephen’s last Mardi Gras shift and my last time working with him. How fitting it is that he was asked to embody pure sunshine 🥰💛

Stephen was one of my very best friends. Although I had only known him for a little over two years, our instant connection made him feel like an old friend from another lifetime. When I first introduced myself to him, we were both at Sesame Street and  he was taking my place as Cookie Monster for the day. I asked if he was one of our new stilt walkers as well and he replied “yes”. And I said “oh great! Then I’ll be walking stilts with you too! Your name is Stephen, right?” (Pronounced it like Steven) And he politely smiled and said yes. Then we continued to chat about how we’ve worked in passing at Universal together since 2019, and how silly it was that we were just now officially meeting. 
Shortly after, I found out the correct pronunciation of his name. The next time I saw him, I gave him so much crap for not correcting me 😂.  From then on, I made it a point to politely correct anyone who mispronounced his name, because I knew he was too sweet to correct them himself.

We worked our first stilt shift together and the day was filled with nothing but laughter. Through our silly antics, bad puns, and sweet interactions with the kids (which he LOVED) I quickly found my favorite set partner. And at the end of that day we dubbed each other “Besties”. Since that first day, every single set with him was the same. Full of fun and love for our job. He never complained (unless it was jokingly about his knees or his back) and was always so eager to go out there and make someone’s day.

Stephen was such a light in my life. Because of these precious moments early on, we ended up becoming very close. We’d go to brunch, have park days, attend spooky events, shop, and participate in countless game nights with our friends. He was one of the few people who know everything about me and we developed a bond that I will carry with me forever. He was so supportive of all of his friends, and I know we will all miss him so very deeply.

Stephen was one of the gentle, genuine and peaceful souls I have had the privilege of meeting. Every person lucky enough to cross his path is changed for the better because of his wonderful energy. I will forever cherish his kindness, and his warm, friendly heart. He will be so missed.

Sometimes in a breakroom, a theme park venue or leading a group of performers, you stumble upon wonderful people that just GET it. They are not only excellent at what they do but are humble and authentic and helpful to those around them. The world is full of people who make life more difficult or aren’t any of those things… Stephen Wong was not one of them. He was such a beautiful person. Even if you hadn’t seen him in a hot minute he’d stop and say hello or enquire about what it is you were up to or congratulate and compliment your efforts in whatever the thing is you were doing. I’d see him stop and help his fellow performers whether it was their first day or their hundreth.  

Stephen, Orlando will sorely miss you. 
I am so thankful I had the opportunity to work with you and lead you here in Orlando. When I ran into you the other day I didn’t know at the time it would be our last meeting, but I am happy it happened. 

Bless your family in this difficult time and rest in peace knowing you did make an impact on everyone you met. We love you.

Me again. Traveling back on memory lane. Each photo I remember vividly, and each moment was filled with nothing but happiness. I'm so glad we became friends in high school.  You know there is  a video clip that I have of me trying to get everyone to do a slow-mo for a senior year video -- and the one person who was down to do it with me (as I begged others to join us) was you. It made me laugh because I knew how it probably went down. I asked you, you initially say no but then with enough nagging you finally do it with a big sigh saying "okay okay okay" and have your READY! face on.  Although you come off as the quiet type you were really supportive and down for a lot of things. And I'm so glad to have seen and experience that side of you.  I miss you my friend, I truly do.  Rest in peace.

My heart goes out to such an amazing friend and a big reason why I fell in love with the entertainment community. Stephen was one of the first few performers I ever met during my first year of Mardi Gras in 2022 I would go up to him before each set  and say hi and chat with him. He was just so welcoming and warm every time I would see him  we would smile and wave at each other and it was just so nice to know that there’s always gonna be someone that’s gonna have your back when you’re new. He was a true example of what kindness was.🫶

IB always thinking of the good times we had together. Your high school mates miss you!

This was one of my favorite Mardi Gras parades. We both got to close the 2022 Mardi Gras season together in a new role. We had a blast performing together. From being silly on set to taking our final bow together for the season, this day was special and I’m grateful to have spent it performing with him.

Stephen was one of my first stilt partners and he was one of my favorite people to work with. I loved our days walking stilts together. He knew how to make every interaction with every family a special one.  He was always super creative with his story lines and character names and he was just as great off stage as he was on. Our entertainment community won’t be the same without him. He was an incredible performer and friend and he will be greatly missed ❤️

Though I was just getting to know you, you left quite the mark on me and the entire FoLK family. I’m so lucky to have shared the stage with you and to have been able to see your light shine in that theatre. Everyone in your life is so lucky to have had you in it. My condolences to the entire Wong family and everyone who came to know and love you and your bright smile.

Stephen and I were not close, but he made an impact on me.
We were stilt coworkers for a short time.   In that short time, my memories of Stephen are all positive.  My first memory of him was that he was exercising on his breaks to make sure he was able to meet his goals, which was a trait I admired.  
This led to speaking about fitness and helped form our first common interest.
We had natural conversations in the breakspace that I always looked forward to sharing.  I'm someone who can be easily drained by others -- I never felt that way around Stephen.
We bonded about us both being "IB Kids" and even going to the same high school, just one year apart.  We joked about how our lives ended up so much differently than we were ever "prepped" for in good ol' IB.
We shared our cruise life experiences and about our relationships.  The way he spoke about his partner was always heartwarming and I loved hearing him rave about her.
Even after our breakspaces were no longer shared, following his journey online was inspiring.  I loved seeing him accomplish the goals he had shared earlier on.
When there were moments when some people were cold to me, Stephen was always kind to me.

I didn't know Stephen well but he made a very positive impact on me.  Stephen will stay in my heart and mind as a reminder to always be kind and genuine.
