Margaret B Powell

Margaret Marie Burkett Powell, 86 of Orlando, died Saturday, September 4, 2010. She was born March 26, 1924 in Orlando, the daughter of the late James Thomas Burkett and Beulah Stephens Burkett. She was preceded in death by her husband James L. Powell, who she married to on September 2, 1944. Margaret was a long time resident of Orlando but being married to James L. Powell, a Southern Baptist minister, they spent time in southern Georgia, New Orleans and Pace, Longwood, Cape Canaveral and Eau Gallie, Florida.As a young lady and in later days she worked in the insurance business. First at the American Fire & Casualty in downtown Orlando and also 20 plus years with the Kuykendall Agency until she retired. She will be remembered fondly for her love family, boating and fishing.She is survived by her sons; Stephen (JoLinn) Powell of Ft Myers, Stanley (Helen) Powell and Stuart (Shelley) Powell of Orlando; 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.Visitation will be held Friday, September 10, 2010 from 6:00PM-8:00PM at Carey Hand Colonial Funeral Home on Curry Ford Rd. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, September 11, 2010 at 10:00AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Orlando.
