John Michael Moriarty

John Moriarty, 92, born in Wevertown, NY and resident of Orlando since 1970, passed away February 10, 2015. For 55 years married to Marjorie Vanderwarker Moriarty, who passed in 2001, he is survived by sons John Leslie (Jack) Moriarty and Patrick Stephen of Orlando; daughter, Kathryn Agnes Moriarty married to William Roy Burris of Orlando; and granddaughter, Tiffany Marie Rinaldi of Opelika, Alabama. John is also survived by brother, Daniel Moriarty of Olmstedville, NY and sister, Judith Freebern of North Creek, NY. John was one of seven children, raised on a chicken farm in Wevertown, NY. The Salutatorian of his high school class in 1936, John joined the Army during WWll and was a disabled veteran. He worked for years as an electrical engineer for General Electric in Pittsfield, MA, and then retired from years of service at Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL. John and Marjorie’s work with shut ins and handicapped people bespoke of their generosity and open hearts. We will all miss John. His honesty, integrity, kindness and wisdom will be remembered by all who knew him. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 15th from 6:00pm – 8:00pm at Baldwin Fairchild – Ivanhoe. Funeral Service will be held at the Chapel of St. James Cathedral on Monday, February 16th at 2:00pm.
