He lived in Brooklyn until the age of 16 when he moved to Orlando FL. He worked as a maintenance technician in various hotels for over 30 years, including the Lowes Hotel at Universal Studios, the Hilton Hotel and the Marriott Hotel. He was known for his woodworking skills, his love of music of all genres, playing dominoes, fishing, and mastered the art of cooking. He began his woodworking hobby in the 9th grade when he attended William E. Grady Vocational and Technical High School in Brooklyn, NY and crafted many beautiful benches, stepstools, tables and chairs, to name a few. He earned a Pharmaceutical Technician certificate and developed a passion for drawing and writing poetry.
James departed this life on July 15, 2024. He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Jerry Prochet, his mother, Edith Gauthier, his aunts: Luce Darius, Marie Therese St. Surin, Michelle St. Surin, Gosette Beauport and Violetta Claude, and his cousins: Kettley Morgan, Vivian Lauture and Harry St. Surin.
He is survived by his wife Tala Prochet; his sons: Calvin Prochet, Macolm Prochet, and James Prochet Jr.; his grandchildren: Allyanna Prochet, and Irabella Prochet; his father, Rene Prochet and his stepmother Juanita Prochet; his siblings: Nadya Volny, Patrice St. Surin, Kathleen Cox, Tanya Prochet, Rodney Limousin, Lesly Laraque, Larry Laraque and their spouses; his step-siblings: Ivor Barrett, Donna Barrett, Michael Anderson, April Grant, and Karen Robinson and their families; his nieces and nephews: Nadia Benoit, Djana Volny, Derick Cox II, Dominique Cox, Josephine Rhino, Jordyn Rhino, Isiah St. Surin, Anthony Limousin, Melissa Limousin, Larry Jr., Destiny, Elora and Serenity; his aunts: Madeleine St. Surin, Patricia Beauzile, Dany Rabel and her husband Wagner; his cousins: Ginette Lamar, Ansy Darius, Pierre Dary, Carlisle Prochet, Geraldine Christopher, Pierrela Lamour, Joanne Ruiz, Wagner Rabel Jr. and their families.
